Dembele the target if Man Utd fail in Moura bid

Wednesday 25 July 2012

Manchester United are considering whether to make one last offer for Brazil midfielder Lucas Moura or pull out of the deal altogether, with Fulham forward Moussa Dembele the club’s fall-back option, the Daily Mail has reported.

Moura’s agent, Wagner Ribeiro, claimed earlier this week that the transfer had collapsed when United refused to up their bid from the £29m-mark. United have already had two offers for the Sao Paulo star rejected but are thought to be confident that a deal can be reached if all sides are willing to compromise.

The Mail adds however that if United cannot wrap up the signing of Lucas Moura then they will turn to Premier League rivals Fulham, and specifically Dembele to bolster their squad.

United have already brought in Borussia Dortmund’s Japan international Shinji Kagawa and Crewe Alexandra youngster Nick Powell, with Moura understood to be Sir Alex Ferguson’s next target. The manager himself admitted as much, but added that if they are unable to conclude a deal for Moura, they would look elsewhere and at other options.
