Spurs join chase for Allen

Saturday 28 July 2012

Tottenham are interested in Swansea midfielder Joe Allen, according to the Daily Star.

Allen has been the subject of interest from Liverpool, as new Reds boss Brendan Rodgers attempts to link up with his former midfield maestro.

However, Swansea have stated Liverpool have broken the agreement in place, which stopped Rodgers from poaching any of his former charges.

That has led Spurs to jump to the head of the queue, as they seek alternatives to wantaway midfielder Luka Modric. The midfielder has a buy-out clause of £10m, if approached by anyone other than the two Manchester clubs, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.

The 21-year-old is currently on duty with Team GB at the London 2012 Olympics, so any decision on his future is likely to be delayed until his participation is over.
