Fulham in for Arshavin

By Mike Carre

Sunday 29 July 2012

Arsenal misfit Andrei Arshavin is a target for Fulham, after Zenit St Petersburg decided against a permanent deal for 31-year-old, according to the Metro.

Arshavin spent the second half of last season on loan at Zenit, but with no permanent deal forthcoming, he has indicated his desire to stay in London.

The Gunners, however, want to shift the diminutive Russian off their wage bill, and will accept a cut-price £1m for the player. That has led Fulham to signal a desire to bring the player to Craven Cottage, although no concrete offer has been made yet.

Arshavin joined Arsenal in 2009 for £15m, but has failed to live up to his price tag, despite a scintillating start to life at the Emirates Stadium.
