Chelsea to make improved Schurrle offer

Sunday 05 August 2012

Chelsea are ready to launch a £25 million bid in an attempt to replace Didier Drogba with Andre Schurrle.

According to The Mirror, Roberto Di Matteo has given the green light to make an improved offer as the Blues continue to rebuild following a number of players leaving this summer on free transfers.

Schurrle currently plays for Bayern Leverkusen and has been catching the eye of several of Europe’s top clubs after a strong season last year as well as a few appearances at Euro 2012.

Just 21 years of age the big centre forward scored 7 times in 31 games last season and has managed 7 goals for Germany since debuting in 2010 – currently having 16 caps to his name.

But, if the German striker was to sign for the European Champions he would be playing second fiddle to £50 million man Fernando Torres who has already been promised the starring role in Di Matteo’s new look first eleven.
