Man Utd close in on Lewandowski

Sunday 05 August 2012

Robert Lewandowski could be on his way to the Premier League to play for Manchester United, next summer.

The Daily Mail are reporting that the Polish centre-forward is subject of a £12 million offer from the Red Devils which would see him move to Old Trafford after this season, giving Dortmund the chance to use him in their forthcoming Champions League campaign.

This news is a big blow to Chelsea as the European Champions were keen on wrapping up a deal for the striker this summer as they look to replace Didier Drogba. It also would seem to put a halt to the negotiations involving Robin van Persie and United, with Ferguson not wishing to flood his front line with an excess of talent.

Lewandowski has caught the eye of Europe’s elite with a strong performances in the Bundesliga in recent years. The 23-year-old has netted 30 times in 67 games over two seasons since arriving in Germany from Lech Poznan. He also has 13 goals in 38 appearances for his country, including the first goal of Euro 2012 this summer.
