Liverpool striker Bellamy set for Cardiff return

Craig Bellamy is ready to make a move back to Cardiff just a few weeks after manager Brendan Rodgers claimed the player at a key role in his new look Liverpool side. According to Wales Online, the 33-year-old will arrive at the new look Welsh side on a free transfer for his second spell at the club.

Bellamy’s first time playing for Cardiff was a loan deal in the 2010-11 season that saw him bag 11 goals in 35 games for the Championship side, making him a big fan favourite. But he hasn’t been able to recreate that form in his second stint at Liverpool, only managing 24 Premier League games and scoring six times.

The deal is expected to be completed within the next 48 hours now that the striker is done with his Olympic duty. Bellamy featured in all of Team GB’s games and captained the side during their quarter-final exit to South Korea.

Cardiff were recently bought by Malaysian businessmen and have since been rebranded, playing now in a red and black kit rather than their traditional blue and white. Hometown boy Bellamy will be the second summer signing for Cardiff, Heidar Helguson already joining from QPR.
