Tottenham to beat Arsenal to M’Vila and Niang

Monday 13 August 2012

Tottenham Hotspur will beat Arsenal to the signings of French duo Yann M’Vila and M’Baye Niang, the Daily Mail has reported.

Arsene Wenger had been strongly linked to both players, with young striker Niang even spending time training with the Gunners earlier this summer, but the Mail believes it is their North London rivals Spurs now in the driving seat.

The president of Rennes, the current employers of M’Vila, admitted this weekend that the club have received an offer from a Premier League side for the transfer of M’Vila, although Frederic de Saint-Serni did not name the interested party. The Mail however indicate the offer has come from Tottenham, even though M’Vila has suggested he could remain at Rennes for another year.

Niang, meanwhile, is wanted by Italian side Milan as well as the Gunners, but Tottenham’s £6m offer is expected to clinch the signing of the 17-year-old for Andre Villas-Boas.
