Kolo Toure facing Man City exit after row with Mancini

Monday 13 August 2012

Kolo Toure looks set to leave Manchester City this summer after a row with manager Roberto Mancini led to the defender missing out on the Community Shield victory over Chelsea, the Daily Mirror has reported.

The Premier League champions saw off the FA Cup and Champions League winners 3-2 after Chelsea had Branislav Ivanovic sent off just before half-time, but Toure played no part in proceedings after falling out with his manager, Mancini. Toure was an unused substitute and is said to have been angry at not getting on the pitch, with the former Arsenal player’s rage boiling over to the point of allegedly throwing away his winner’s medal.

The Mirror claims some supporters posted images on Twitter on Sunday evening of what was said to be Toure’s discarded medal. Despite not playing in the match Toure, as part of the victorious squad, was still granted an award along with the other non-playing substitutes.

Toure is said to have been angry that even with Mancini opting for a system involving three central defenders he was overlooked for Stefan Savic, with the Ivory Coast international further put out when, at half-time, Mancini replaced Savic with Gael Clichy.
