Tottenham turn to Willian after completing Adebayor deal

Wednesday 22 August 2012

Tottenham Hotspur Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas is not resting on his laurels after completing the signing of striker Emmanuel Adebayor, as the Daily Mirror reports Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Willian is next in line to move to White Hart Lane.

Villas-Boas is a long-term admirer of Willian, having previously identified him as a transfer target for former club Chelsea. Willian is an attack-minded midfielder and would help sate Villas-Boas’ desire for more threat going forward from his new charges.

As well as Willian, Villas-Boas is still said to be in the market for either Radamel Falcao or Leandro Damiao. The Mirror adds that Villas-Boas has money to spend following the sale of Sebastian Bassong to Norwich City, with his kitty to be further boosted by the departure of Michael Dawson to Queens Park Rangers.

Willian, who can play either centrally or on the wing, has been at Shakhtar since 2007, winning the Ukrainian league three times and earning two caps for Brazil.
