Man City to overhaul wide options by signing Sinclair and selling Johnson

Wednesday 22 August 2012

The options available to Roberto Mancini in wide areas will soon look radically different as the Manchester City manager moves closer to signing Swansea City winger Scott Sinclair and offloading England international Adam Johnson, according to the Daily Mirror.

Johnson is expected to move to Sunderland in a £10m deal, marking a return to the North East for the former Middlesbrough star. While the Black Cats remain favourites for the player’s signature, they do face competition from Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton.

Sinclair, meanwhile, is said to be close to moving to the Premier League champions for half the price Sunderland are willing to pay for Johnson. Sinclair’s knock-down £5m value is in large part due to his refusal to extend his contract with the Swans - his current deal is due to expire in a year’s time.

The Mirror adds that Swansea will turn to Middlesbrough’s Marvin Emnes in an attempt to replace Sinclair.
