Moses thanks Wigan following Chelsea move

By Joe Thomas

Friday 14 September 2012

Chelsea new boy Victor Moses has paid tribute to previous club Wigan Athletic, reveals The Mirror.

Moses joined the Blues in the summer transfer window from Wigan for a £9m fee, but was a relatively low profile signing in a window that saw the introduction to the squad of the likes of Lille’s Eden Hazard for £32m, and Oscar from Internacional for a fee of around £25m.

Nigerian international Moses, who scored six goals in 37 appearances during Wigan’s Premier League survival campaign last season, believes that signing for The Latics in 2010 helped him improve as a player.

He said: ‘Playing at Wigan developed my character. Roberto Martinez is a great manager and he loves to play football. Having a manager like him encourages you to play the football in the right way and carry yourself in a more professional way. It was great working with him.”

Moses is yet to make his Chelsea debut since signing on 24th August and was an unused substitute in the 4-1 UEFA Super Cup defeat to Atletico Madrid in Monaco. Despite this, the former Eagle hopes to impress under new manager Roberto Di Matteo and could be in line for a debut appearance on the weekend against London rivals QPR.
