QPR still want Tottenham defender Dawson
Saturday 22 September 2012
Mark Hughes will again try to bring Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson to Queens Park Rangers in January when the transfer window reopens, the Daily Mirror has reported.
Dawson was told he could leave White Hart Lane shortly after Andre Villas-Boas was appointed as the club’s new Head Coach, with the Portuguese revealing he prefers to have only four central defenders and, as he currently had five, could not guarantee Dawson regular playing time.
The England international has duly not yet played under Villas-Boas, although he was named as a substitute for the midweek Europa League match against Serie A side Lazio.
Tottenham and QPR agreed a fee for Dawson, put by the Mirror at £9m, but the move collapsed with Hughes suggesting the transfer came about too fast for Dawson after being informed of the situation by Villas-Boas. But Hughes added he intends to revisit the deal in January, if Dawson is still out of the Spurs XI and if QPR have not found another alternative.
