Arsenal news - Gunners in for Lindegaard, Wenger praise for Fabregas, No Hernandez move
Thursday 16 September 2010
Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Arsenal. Today:

Wenger delight with Fabregas.
Arsene Wenger has taken the opportunity to lavish praise on skipper Cesc Fàbregas, according to Sky Sports. The Gunners put in a flamboyant performance to defeat Portugese runners-up Braga in their Champions League opener at the Emirates last night, and the show was capped by a fine outing from the 23-year-old. He dictated play from his midfield slot, and ended the evening with two goals to his name – in a performance which will surely quell many fears over where his heart lies after a very public courtship from boyhood club Barcelona throughout the summer. Manager Wenger also believes the youngsters at Arsenal can learn a lot from Fàbregas’ example: “He's a fantastic influence and it's important he leads this team to success. For the young players alongside him it's a fantastic opportunity to learn a lot. He loves this club. People doubted that, but I never doubted that. He arrived here at the age of 16 and enjoys the way we play. What more to you want to be happy?”
No Hernandez move.
Arsenal target Abel Hernandez’ agent has categorically ruled out the possibility of the 20-year-old leaving Palermo by the end of the season, according to Sky Sports. The Gunners are among a host of top European clubs keeping tabs on the striker, but Vincenzo D'Ippolito said: “Everyone likes the guy, especially in Italy. But now it's premature to talk about the market.” D’Ippolito continued: “Of course, there is always interest, also from Germany, but the guy is fine in Palermo. Will he move in January? I'm ruling it out. Palermo are not interested in talks because they consider Hernandez non-transferable.”
Gunners in for Lindegaard.
In other Arsenal news, the Gunners are thought to be closing in to Dutch keeper Anders Lindegaard. Following previously reported interest from the Emirates and Manchester United, the player’s club Aalesund have admitted that should either of these top English teams come knocking for his signature, they would be hard pressed to convince the 26-year-old to stay. The First Post cites Norwegian rag BT, who spoke to Aalesund Sporting Director Henrik Hoff, who implied interest from non-English clubs: “Considering the big interest in Anders, I seriously doubt that he will be with us next season. There is a serious interest from England, but recently, clubs from other countries have started to keep tabs on him.”
