Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Arsenal. Today:

Wenger charged.
Arsene Wenger has been hit with a charge of improper conduct following the Gunners’ draw at Sunderland on Saturday – and must now decide whether to serve the 1-match touchline ban in the north London derby against Spurs this evening or West Brom on Saturday. The Sun reports that if he accepts his punishment before lunchtime today he won’t be on the sidelines for the Carling Cup encounter with Tottenham, but anytime between this afternoon and the Thursday deadline means he will sit out the Premier League clash with the Baggies. The charge also carries an £8,000 fine. The Frenchman pushed fourth official Martin Atkinson at the Stadium of Light after Darren Bent equalised in the fifth minute of injury time when only four had been initially allocated.
Fabregas latest.
Skipper Cesc Fabregas confirmed last night that the injury he suffered while scoring a freak goal against Sunderland is not as bad as was first suspected, and that he expects to return from the injury within two weeks. Speaking on his Twitter account, he said: “Good news on my injury. I have some fluid but nothing bad in the muscle. I hope I can be playing in two weeks.” The Telegraph also reports that he would not have been included for tonight’s trip to White Hart Lane, but could be back in contention for the journey to Chelsea on October 3.
Given to sign.
Following yesterday’s report that Man City goalkeeper Shay Given looks set to join the Gunners in January, there has been another twist in the search for a new No.1. According to a report on The First Post, Dutch stopper Maarten Stekelenburg looks set to do battle with the Irishman for the much-discussed spot in the Emirates dressing room. Given still looks the more likely transfer to go through though, after City boss Roberto Mancini told The Metro: “I have a lot of respect for Shay and I told him the situation before the finish of the [transfer] market [in August]. I told him 'Shay, you can choose. I hope that you stay here but I respect your decision and if you want to leave you can'. He decided to stay here and until January he must stay here.”
