Arsenal news - Gunners turn to Reina, Wenger accepts defeat, Wenger hits back at Redknapp
Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Arsenal. Today:

Gunners turn to Reina.
Arsenal look set to make a new effort to tempt Liverpool custodian Pepe Reina to the Emirates, according to a report on Imscouting.com. Current No.1 Manuel Almunia gave away a soft goal as the Gunners slipped to a 3-2 home defeat to West Brom yesterday, prompting new calls for a keeper to be signed in January. Unlike during the summer when Arsenal had a bid for the 28-year-old rejected, however, Reina may be tempted by a move in the new year as Liverpool are struggling, whereas Arsenal are presently challenging near the top of the table. The Kop’s dire financial situation also means they may be unable to reject reasonable offers for their top players, paving the way for the Spaniard to move south.
Wenger hits back at Redknapp.
Arsene Wenger has hit back at claims by rival manager Harry Redknapp that Samir Nasri dived in the north London derby last week. According to Sky Sports, Wenger told the official Arsenal Matchday Programme: “Since our win at Spurs on Tuesday night, there has been talk in the media about the award of our first penalty. If you look at the replay, you can see that (Sebastien) Bassong clearly pulls Nasri's shirt and the referee gives the penalty. Samir is an honest player and to suggest he dived for the penalty is wrong.”
Wenger accepts defeat.
Meanwhile, Frenchman Wenger does not believe his side deserved anything from the visit of West Brom yesterday. The 3-2 defeat at the hands of the fifth-placed Baggies means Arsenal are four points adrift of pace setters Chelsea, though this gap could have been larger had the Blues themselves not lost at the City of Manchester stadium. According to UKPA, Wenger said: “We had an off day and were not good enough to win the game. I believe the concentration that gives you the sharpness was not there. We made it more difficult because we were not at our usual level, defensively or offensively. Anything was difficult for us today, to pass the ball, to win it back. Overall we got what we deserved, that is zero points. We didn't deserve more.”
