Arsenal news - 'Keeper problems to ruin season, Redknapp praise, Thomas slams current Gunners
Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Arsenal. Today:

Thomas slams current Gunners.
Former Arsenal trainee Jerome Thomas returned to haunt his former club on Saturday with West Brom – and promptly slammed the current crop of players as inferior to the Invincibles of 2004. Thomas’ own first team opportunities were limited to just three Carling Cup appearances for the Gunners due to the legendary team which went unbeaten for the entire season six years ago, but he is now established on the Baggies’ wing. According to Mirror Football, he said: “In front of me there was Pires, Ljungberg, Vieira, Begkamp and Henry. No disrespect to the Arsenal team now, but the standard is not as high.”
Redknapp praise.
Arsenal’s playing style has received an unlikely fan in Harry Redknapp, manager of bitter north London rivals Tottenham. Spurs have received much praise for their creative play in recent weeks, and Redknapp cited the Gunners’ play as a standard he wishes to emulate. According to Mirror Football, Redknapp said: “You look at Arsenal, they’re all popping the ball around to each other. If people want the ball, you’ve got a chance because they tend not to give the ball away. I’d much rather play that way, to be honest with you, than have people in there who are hammer-throwers, and keep passing the ball to the other team and then tackling people to get it back again.”
'Keeper problems to ruin season.
Alan Hansen has used his article on Telegraph.co.uk to claim that Arsene Wenger’s failure to sign a new goalkeeper this summer will cost them dearly in their bid to win a first Premier League title since 2004 – but that the reason for the club’s trophy drought goes deeper than who is between the sticks at the Emirates. Hansen claims the primary reason that the Gunners have not won anything for so long is because the current crop of players do not have the history of success to feed the hunger for future glory. He wrote: “When you haven't won anything, you don't know the gut-wrenching feeling that comes with failing after having been a winner. I'm not saying Arsenal's players aren't hungry for success because they clearly are, but I believe it is indisputable that you definitely become hungrier for success when you have tasted it before.”
