Tottenham news - Graham backs Spurs for title, Flynn: Bale wants to stay, Redknapp will sell before buying

Graham backs Spurs for title.

George Graham has incurred the wrath of the red side of the north London divide by claiming Tottenham can win the Premier League.

The Scot managed Arsenal for almost a decade before a three year stint at Spurs and saw the Lillywhite’s rally from two goals down to beat the Gunners on Saturday.

That was enough to persuade Graham that Harry Redknapp’s side have what it takes to win the title, with Graham telling TalkSport; “I think this is a season when there could be a real surprise. He’s (Harry Redknapp) got a great squad of players, they’ve got a great chance.”

Flynn: Bale wants to stay.

Gareth Bale has no intentions of quitting Tottenham according to his one time coach and personal friend Brian Flynn.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable 2010 with a host of devastating displays alerting many of the continent’s top clubs to his abilities.

His recent double destruction of European champions Internazionale has seen Bale draw comparisons to Lionel Messi and Flynn expects a number of serious bids to come in for the Welsh flyer either in January or next summer.

However, Flynn told the Daily Mirror that Bale’s wish is to remain at White Hart Lane, “Gareth loves the club and really enjoys his football at Tottenham. He is playing in the Champions League competing at the highest level. He genuinely loves playing for Tottenham and working with Harry.”

Redknapp will sell before buying.

Harry Redknapp has admitted he must sell before he buys during the January transfer window.

Karim Benzema is one of a number of strikers linked with a move to White Hart Lane, but Redknapp has suggested any arrivals must be offset by trimming one of the largest squads in the Premier League.

Redknapp told TalkSport, “Before we can bring anyone in, I’ve spoke with the chairman and we need to shift one or two.”

Redknapp also denied a move for Benzema was imminent by saying, “we haven’t made any enquires for him. There’s definitely nothing going on at the moment."
