Man Utd news - Fergie: Lesson for the youngsters, Park in January exit, Schweinsteiger move unlikely

Fergie: Lesson for the youngsters.

Sir Alex Ferguson was in reflective mood after seeing his side succumb to their first defeat in 29 matches.

United’s second string were comprehensively dumped out of the League Cup by West Ham – thus relinquishing the Reds two year stranglehold on the trophy.

With a host of senior players left in Manchester, the likes of Chris Smalling, Jonny Evans, the da Silva twins and Bebe stepped in but proved no replacement as United were well beaten in the bitter cold of east London.

“There were young players out there and there is probably a lesson for them in it. We are investing in them and they will come out of this and remember today” said Ferguson.

Schweinsteiger move unlikely.

Manchester United target Bastian Schweinsteiger will not be leaving Bayern Munich any time soon according to the Bavarian’s chairman, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

The German World Cup star has yet to agree a new contract at the Allianz Arena – prompting rumours Bayern were prepared to sell him in January rather than lose him for free in 18 months time.

United - along with a host of other top European clubs - were said to be interested in the 26-year-old, but Rummenigge speaking at Bayern’s AGM said, “We will not be letting the player go before his contract ends in 2012. Our aim is to give Bastian a long-term contract."

Park in January exit.

The Daily Mirror claim Park Ji-Sung is a January transfer window target for Spanish side Sevilla.

Park had fell out of favour with Sir Alex Ferguson after an indifferent start to the season, and that has raised concerns from within the club as to whether the South Korean’s contract should be extended past 2012.

As a result, the Primera Division club have been in contact with Park’s representatives to discuss whether a move to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan would be a viable option for both parties.

The player’s wages could prove a problem to Los Nervionenses, but if an agreement can be reached, Sevilla are then expected to contact the reds to discuss a transfer.
