Chelsea news - Neymar rules out move, Lampard: We can still win league, Cech defends Carlo

By James McLean

Tuesday 14 December 2010

Neymar rules out move.

Chelsea target Neymar has ruled out the possibility of leaving current club Santos before the Olympic Games in 2012. The 18-year-old was the subject of a £25m bid from the champions in the summer, but opted to remain in his motherland.

The wonderkid is seen as the next big Brazil number 10, and has stamped his youthful authority on the Brazilian Serie A with 27 goals in his first two seasons, according to Imscouting.com.

Wagner Ribeirom, who is Neymar’s agent, ruled out a move, saying: “Neymar will not leave before the 2012 Olympics. He wants to stay here and play in the Copa Libertadores 2011.”

Lampard: We can still win league.

Frank Lampard, who made his long awaited return to action in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham at the weekend, has declared his belief that Chelsea will still win the league.

The 32-year-old, who was absent for almost four months with a groin injury, stated that the spirit shown at White Hart Lane is something that the Blues need to continue showing if they are to successfully defend their title.

According to The Telegraph, he said: “We have got the quality in our team. Injuries have been tough on us and some months tough on us. But with the spirit and ability we have got in our team if we play like that, I have confidence we can do it. I have no doubt we will win the league.”

Cech defends Carlo.

Petr Cech has joined the band of Chelsea players leaping to the defence of current boss Carlo Ancelotti, insisting “We were far worse under Scolari,” according to The Ealing Gazette.

The champions have won only once in their last seven games, but the performance at White Hart Lane showed signs of a resurgence on the not-too-distant horizon.

Cech believes that despite the poor run the Blues still have confidence in their own ability to win the league, and this belief is something Ancelotti appears to have instilled since joining the Stamford Bridge outfit.

The giant goalkeeper said: “In terms of results, this has been the hardest time since I came to Chelsea, but not in terms of performances, because there were games we deserved to win.

“There was a period before Scolari left that was much worse in terms of performances as well as results. We've been working hard all the period we didn't get results and we are still confident.”
