Manchester City near Dzeko capture

Thursday 06 January 2011

Wolfsburg’s Bosnian centre forward Edin Dzeko’s move to Manchester City is due for completion within the next few days, with a fee believed to be around £35m. Dzeko, who has been a long-term target for Roberto Mancini, has already said goodbye to his teammates and the coaching staff at Wolfsburg and the only thing delaying the impending transfer is the confirmation of Dzeko’s visa.

The big centre-forward, who scored 66 goals and made 22 assists in 111 Bundesliga appearances, had long been a target of many of the European elite but Manchester City have acted quickly so to conclude the transfer as early as possible within the January transfer window.

The completion of this transfer will also see Emmanuel Adebayor being almost certainly moved on, with The Sun and The Daily Mirror linking the Togolese forward to loan moves to Tottenham, Liverpool and Malaga today.

With Dzeko’s arrival almost certain, Manchester City fans will be hoping that he will be able to help in cementing the clubs top four pedigree.
