Birmingham near Bentley deal, Miller move on

Monday 10 January 2011

The Daily Mirror reports that Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish is targeting no less than four new players to help save the club from relegation.

With the club perilously close to the bottom three McLeish has already moved to seal a loan deal for David Bentley, who is due for a medical in the next couple of days, and is in talks with Rangers striker Kenny Miller.

On the deals McLeish said that: “Bentley has agreed to come to Birmingham on loan. We’ve just got to set up a medical in the next few days. We’ve spoken to Kenny’s people. They haven’t said yes or no. We’ll see where it goes from here. I don’t like to count my chickens. Personal demands, medicals, many things can go wrong.”

Meanwhile the midlands club have still been in negotiations for Tottenham’s Irish forward Robbie Keane, who is expected to leave White Hart Lane this month, and are considering a move for Boca Junior’s 23 year old forward Pablo Mouche. Mouche, who is applying for an Italian passport to facilitate a move to Europe, was recommended to the club by agent Barry McIntosh who played a role in bringing Mauro Zarate to the club in 2008.
