Liverpool - Wolves: Match preview and team news

Bookmark and Share

By Tim Doel

Saturday 24 September 2011

Liverpool look to get back to winning ways in the Premier League today, after defeats to Stoke and Tottenham put an end to a promising beginning of the 2011-12 campaign. In their way is a Wolves team that match their Merseyside opposition's season stats, with two wins, a draw and two defeats from their opening five matches. Wolves are unbeaten away from home, and Liverpool unbeaten at home, so something will have to give today at Anfield.

The Reds are without Daniel Agger, out with a rib injury, and Martin Skrtel is set to return from suspension. Andy Carroll is likely to continue up front with Dirk Kuyt remaining on the bench. Wolves meanwhile welcome back Roger Johnson and Steven Fletcher to the first team squad; Johnson starts but Fletcher is named as a substitute. Wolves remain without Jody Craddock and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.

Teams (confirmed)

Liverpool: Reina, Kelly, Enrique, Carragher, Skrtel, Downing, Henderson, Lucas, Adam, Carroll, Suarez

Wolves: Hennessey; Stearman, Johnson, Berra, Ward; Hunt, Henry, O’Hara, Jarvis; Edwards, Doyle
