Hondurans were thrilled to finally make their return to the grand stage of the world cup finals. Millions stayed up into the early hours back home to watch Los Catrachos’ exploits, while the government of the politically unstable Central American nation organised a work schedule which would allow everyone to watch the games. Now however, having picked up only a single point and failed to score a goal at all, Honduras’ miserable world cu...More

The scoreline somehow stayed respectable, even if that owed as much to the European Champions’ profligacy as it did any defensive action on Los Catrachos’ part. Equally, in spite of the two defeats suffered so far, Honduras are not out of the competition yet. An admittedly unlikely combination of scores in the final round of group games, comprising a Hondura...More

In Group H, Chile recorded a crucial win over 10-man Switzerland while Spain cruised to a comfortable success over Honduras that keeps their tournament hopes alive after an opening game defeat.
