New Liverpool boss Rodgers to work within overhauled Anfield set-up
Brendan Rodgers is not the only new face expected at Liverpool in the near future as the club will still put in place a redesigned structure of management, but former Bayern Munich manager Louis van Gaal will not be part of it, the Liverpool Echo has reported.
Instead, the newspaper continues, there will not be one senior, dominant figure in the role of sporting director or something similar, but several appointments from inside and outside the club’s existing coaching roster. Txiki Begiristain, formerly of Barcelona is believed to be a possible appointment while Pep Segura, currently overseeing Liverpool’s youth system, is tipped to take a wider-ranging role.
Rodgers will also bring with him three members of the Swansea City backroom staff after compensation was agreed between the Welsh side and Liverpool, with the fee said to be around £7m. Colin Pascoe, Swansea assistant manager, head of sports science and medicine Glen Driscoll and performance analyst Chris Davies will also make the move to Merseyside. The Echo adds it is not yet known if Steve Clarke and Kevin Keen, part of former manager Kenny Dalglish’s coaching staff, will remain at the club.
