Liverpool willing to sell Agger to Man City

Tuesday 07 August 2012

Liverpool will agree to sell Denmark centre-back Daniel Agger to Manchester City if the Premier League champions make an offer of £20m, the Daily Mirror has reported. That money could then be used to strengthen the Reds squad.

City are said to have so far offered around half the asking price but remain keen on the 27-year-old, with the Mirror suggesting a second, higher offer is expected to be forthcoming.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers does not want to sell Agger but feels if a large offer is received for the player then, considering his history of injuries and the areas in which Rodgers remains eager to strengthen the squad, the Reds would be foolish not to consider selling the defender.

Rodgers would use the £20m received for Agger not only on a replacement defender but also to seal the signing of Fulham attacker Clint Dempsey, who is still the manager’s preferred choice to bolster his forward options.
