Mexico Olympics hero Peralta dreams of Man Utd move

Monday 13 August 2012

Oribe Peralta, the scorer of both goals as Mexico claimed a gold medal for men’s football at the London Olympics ahead of the favourites Brazil, has admitted he would love to play in the Premier League and aspires to follow in the footsteps of Javier Hernandez, the Manchester United striker, according to the Daily Mail.

Peralta bagged a brace against Brazil on Saturday, including scoring after barely 30 seconds, to deliver a gold medal to the Central American country in what the Mail claims was one of the biggest victories in the history of Mexican football. Peralta added a second goal to his early strike in the second-half, while a late effort from Brazil forward Hulk proved in vain.

The 28-year-old Peralta currently plays in his homeland for Santos Laguna but admitted if the chance to play in England on a regular basis arose, he would take it with both hands. Peralta said: “Yes, of course I’d love to come and play here. It would be a challenge and it would be really great for me.

If Peralta was to pitch up in England he would be following a trail blazed by United forward Hernandez, who impressed at Old Trafford following his 2010 move. On his compatriot, Peralta added: “He’s an inspiration to us. We have to train to be like him. He scores many important goals for Manchester United…it’s something we aspire to.
