Transfer deadline day – as it happened

Good afternoon and welcome to A Different League’s live feed as we count down the final minutes before the deadline slams shut for four long winter months. Dan Cooper is here to guide you through the latest goings-on.

Hi All and welcome to A Different League’s live text on all the transfer happenings as we approach the final hour of the transfer window.

16:05 Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has swooped to bring another player from a former club to White Hart Lane. Spurs have signed Niko Kranjcar from Premier League strugglers Portsmouth

16:09 Meanwhile Aston Villa have made the double signing of James Collins from West Ham and Richard Dunne from Manchester City.

16:12 Bolton have swooped to sign Croatian international Ivan Klasnic. He has an impressive goalscoring record, lets see if he can fire Gary Megson’s side up the table. His arrival may take some pressure of Kevin Davies….we’ll see.

16:16 Going a bit quiet at the moment, just under 45 minutes remain, time running out for those last minute buys

16.22 Still no news on Abdoulaye Meite’s proposed move from West Brom to Hull, will bring you all news as soon as anything is confirmed

16:25 Not much news to bring you at the moment unfortunately. A bit of news from earlier in case you missed it, Portsmouth have completed the signing of Tal Ben Haim from Manchester City. After losing Kranjcar, Pompey boss Paul Hart will be a relieved man when the transfer window shuts

16:29 Just as things look to be going quiet, Hull sign Ibrahima Sonko on a season’s long loan from fellow Premier League club Stoke City

16:33 It now appears that Martin Petrov’s expected move from Manchester City to Tottenham is now off. City are apparently keen to keep hold of the player, although Petrov was said to be keen on a move away from Eastlands.

16:36 Everton boss David Moyes has swooped to bring highly-rated defender Johnny Heitinga to Goodison Park for a reported £5 million from Atletico Madrid. Looks like a good bit of business. Time will tell if he is a suitable replacement to the recently departed Joleon Lescott

16:40 Not long to go now, and apparently Nicky Shorey has turned down the opportunity to join Portsmouth on loan in order to fight for his first team place at Villa Park

16:42 Who has been the best signing of the day so far? Is there anyone you would like to see your club sign? Has Sir Alex Ferguson done enough in the transfer market to replace Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez? Let us know your thoughts by leaving a comment

16:47 We’re into the last 15 minutes and Portsmouth have just confirmed the signing of Watford’s Mike Williamson for £3 million. Pompey boss Paul Hart will be hoping Williamson’s arrival can add some much needed stability to Portsmouth’s defence.

16:51 There will be plenty of managers anxiously counting down the minutes now, nine minutes left

16:53 There now appears to be reports that Richard Dunne has not been confirmed as an Aston Villa player. Sorry for the confusion. We will bring you any updates or changes as soon as they are announced

16:56 A matter of minutes remaining now and its gone a bit quiet. Apparently Anton Ferdinand will be staying at Sunderland, quashing rumours of a move to Tottenham

17:01 That’s it! The transfer window is officially closed! It has been a fairly quiet day all round when compared with last year’s events. Just to bring you a bit of news you might have missed earlier Danny Collins joins Stoke from Sunderland for £2.75m
