Club Focus – Chelsea – England starlet shines

Chelsea momentarily answered critics on Sunday with an emphatic win over London rivals Watford.

It was thought that the Blues may struggle for fire-power without their three first choice front-men. Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka and Salomon Kalou were absent from the FA Cup tie so Daniel Sturridge stepped in to fill their illustrious boots. The striker has had limited opportunities to showcase his talent since signing from Manchester City in the summer, but he rose to the challenge. The striker displayed good positioning and awareness, reacting quickly to a side-footed effort by John Terry and diverting the ball home. The English starlet’s second goal showed Thierry Henry-like composure, neatly bringing the ball down and slotting home from close range.
