Kranjcar out for the season and will require operation

Tottenham midfielder Niko Kranjcar will miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury sustained in the F.A. Cup semi-final defeat to Portsmouth on Sunday.

Kranjcar played on through extra-time for Tottenham after sustaining the injury, but afterwards it became clear that he had done significant damage. Manager Harry Redknapp told how “he knew afterwards that he’d need an operation. The courage he showed though was unbelievable”.

Kranjcar has impressed since signing in August 2009 for £2m, scoring eight goals.
