Arsenal look to Mertesacker.

Arsenal is keeping tabs on German defender Petr Mertesacker during this year’s World Cup. The 6ft 5in defender has described the move as ‘attractive’ and is seen as an ideal replacement for the outgoing William Gallas. According to the Mirror the Werder Bremen star has described the attraction of consistent Champions League football as great a attraction.

Merida completes Athletico move.

Athletico Madrid have completed the signing of Spanish starlet Fran Merida, after the youngster rejected the opportunity to stay at Arsenal. Merida was out of contract at the Emirates club, and after making only a handful of appearances in his time at Arsenal, he accepted the offer of first team football with Europa League winners Athletico.

Barcelona make contact for Fabregas move.

Barcelona has finally made contact with Arsenal over the signing of the Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas. The Spaniard has been linked with a £40m move, and has recently signalled his desire to leave the London side and return to his boyhood club. However there has been no formal offer made, with progress being made slowly according to SkySports. The Spanish stars father has described the negotiations as ‘very long’ and ‘wants it to be resolved quickly’.
