Merida snubs Gunners stay.

Arsenal youngster Fran Merida is set to reject a 5-year contract to remain at the club, preferring a move to Spain with Europa League winners Athletico Madrid, according to a report in The Metro. His agent said how “Fran’s decision is based purely on sporting questions and not money.”

Emmanuel-Thomas wants first team breakthrough.

Another Arsenal youngster, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, is hoping to push his way into the Arsenal first team this season, after impressing in his loan spell at Doncaster Rovers. He told the Arsenal official website “This has been a good season for me. Hopefully I can continue that next season. I’ll have a little break and then return for pre-season where I can make a big impression. Pre-season makes a big difference.”

Let Fabregas go says Graham.

Former Arsenal boss George Graham has told Arsenal to let wantaway midfielder Cesc Fabregas return to Barcelona. Talking to the Mirror, Graham said: “It won’t be the end of ­Arsenal, not by any means. There is no one player who has ever run or will run ­Arsenal Football Club. If Barcelona come up with the fee that Arsenal want, then there is no point keeping a player who doesn’t want to be there.”
