Spurs to reward Modric with new contract.
Spurs are prepared to make Croatian midfield maestro Lika Modric one of the highest paid players at the club, in a move designed to ward off interest fro Manchester United and Chelsea. Modric was instrumental in taking Spurs to the Champions League places, and both manager Harry Redknapp and Chairman Daniel Levy are keen to keep their best players, and reward them with new contracts. The move follows the new contract signed by Gareth Bale, which has ended rumours linking him with move to Old Trafford.
Bellamy move back on.
Craig Bellamy’s move to Spurs is back-on, with Harry Redknapp hoping to wrap up a £14m deal for the player, reports Caught Offside. The transfer was rumoured immediately after the last game of the season, but the pace has stepped-up now, and Redknapp hopes that the lire of Champions League football, as well as the friction between the player and manager Roberto Mancini, will be enough to persuade the Welsh international.
Redknapp to weigh-up Upson move.
Harry Redknapp is interested in a move for transfer-listed West Ham defender Matthew Upson, according to Footy Latest. Tottenham want more cover in centr-defence, due to the injury problems of Spurs duo Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate, however West Ham are said to be asking for £10m for the player, and Redknapp will have to decide if that fee will be too much for what may be a reserve defender.
