Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Arsenal. Today:

Barcelona in formal offer for Fabregas.

According to BBC Sport Arsenal have received a formal offer from Barcelona for captain Cesc Fabregas. Having joined the club in 2003 from Barcelona, Fabregas looks a step closer to returning home, although any deal is unlikely to be concluded before the World Cup

Walcott shock exclusion from Capello’s 23

Arsenal’s Theo Walcott has missed out on the final 23-man England squad that will travel to South Africa. The winger has spoken of his disappointment, but is able to accept the decision of Coach Fabio Capello. The Sun runs with the notion that he failed to comply with Capello’s disciplinary system and was deemed to lack the technique required to perform on the biggest stage. Having missed large portions of the season through injury, Walcott regained fitness but failed to recapture the form that saw him score a hat-trick against Croatia in qualifying.

Ramsey signs contract extension

Aaron Ramsey has penned a contract extension with the Gunners according to the club’s official website. The midfielder has been sidelined since his horrific leg break suffered against Stoke City, but the manager has reiterated his faith in the player’s ability to recover by offering a new deal. Ramsey becomes the 18th player to re-sign this season and may play a crucial role should Arsenal lose Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona.
