Arsenal news – Chamakh: “Sign Gourcuff”, Gunners reject Galatasaray bid, Campbell no closer to stay

Chamakh: “Sign Gourcuff”.

Arsenal’s new signing Marouane Chamakh has urged the Gunners to sign former teammate Yoann Gourcuff. The French international midfielder has been described by Chamakh as a ‘terrific’ signing if the club loose midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona during the summer. Chamakh told The Sun: “It would be terrific if Gourcuff joined Arsenal”. The pair formed a deadly partnership last season at Bordeaux lifted the Ligue 1 title.

Campbell no closer to stay.

Arsene Wenger has revealed the gunners are no closer to agreeing a new contract with veteran defender Sol Campbell today. The experienced defender has impressed since his return to the club in January and has been linked with both Newcastle and Celtic over the summer as negotiations stall at the Emirates. But despite Campbell suggesting he would like to stay with the London side, Arsene Wenger told the club’s official website: “No. There is no update.”

Gunners reject Galatasaray bid.

Galatasary have had a 4m bid rejected for Arsenal midfielder Alex Song according to the Daily Mail. The paper claims the club flatly rejected the bid for the 23-year-old, who recently played for Cameroon at the World Cup as Arsene Wenger believes Song has a bright future at the club. Song played 36 games last season can also play in defence for the Gunners.
