Blues enter Ozil race.

The Daily Mail claims Chelsea, Barcelona and Arsenal will battle it out to sign German playmaker Mesut Ozil this summer. The paper claims Werder Bremen are prepared to listen to offers for the youngster who has impressed with two goals so far as the German’s set up a quarter final clash with England. The 21-year-old was the most expensive teenager in German football when Bremen paid FC Schalke £3.5m for German wonderkid.

Cole praises Terry.

Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole has described John Terry as the best defender at the World Cup. The comment comes after Terry’s battling performance against Slovenia which won the defender all round praise. Cole told the Mirror: “You can’t knock JT. He is the best centre-half in the world and some of the blocks and the tackles he made against Slovenia were brilliant. He has played with three different partners, he is the heartbeat of the side and he is an exceptional player. We’ve got so many good leaders in the team and it was a great performance from him.”

Cech defends Jabulani.

Despite various complaints about this summer’s World Cup ball, the Jabulani, Chelsea and Czech Republic No.1 Petr Cech has defended the ball. The Chelsea shot stopper said: “I played with the ball for Czech Republic against Turkey and I found the ball fine. You see during a normal season similar mistakes, but you don’t blame the ball then. Suddenly we come to a big event and when there is a mistake, someone loses the ball or loses his concentration and everybody looks to the ball. I don’t think it is the right attitude. The ball is the same for everyone. It depends on many things – like the weather, the way the ball is kicked, the part of the pitch it bounces on and many more reasons. My experience has been positive.”
