Chelsea news – Blues in Hunterlaar link, Ballack set for Dubai move, Redknapp keen on Cole

Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Chelsea. Today:

Blues in Hunterlaar link.

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is lining up a summer bid for Milan forward Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, according to Caughtoffside.com. Reports claim the Blues are lining up a a £16m bid for the Dutch forward who has endured a difficult debut season in Serie A with injuries and a lack of form. Ancelotti however is said to be keen to bring the ex-Real Madrid and Ajax forward to the Premier League as he looks to find the long-term replacements to ageing front two Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba.

Ballack set for Dubai move.

Veteran Blues midfielder Michael Ballack is wanted by several sides in Dubai, reports the Guardian, but the player is holding out for a two year deal at the Bridge after Chelsea only offered a 12-month contract to the German midfielder. And the ex-Bayern man could be tempted to join the Dubai sides Al Wasl or Al Shabab, who alongside the biggest club in the country Al Ahli are attempting to sign the 33-year-old. A source from the UAE Pro League told the Guardian: “Michael Ballack has been approached and he is now the No.1 target for clubs.”

Redknapp keen on Cole.

Harry Redknapp appears to have re-entered the race to sign Chelsea contract rebel Joe Cole. The Spurs boss told papers last week he expected the former West Ham star to sign for one of the London clubs rivals but now Redknapp has told The Sun he still hopes to be able to sit down and talk directly with Cole after the World Cup in South Africa. Redknapp said: “Yes, I am prepared to declare my interest in Joe Cole. Why not? He is a great player, his contract is up and he is on a free transfer. When he returns from the World Cup with England I would love to talk to him about coming to Spurs.”
