Chelsea progress in Pato move.
Chelsea target Alexandre Pato is set to open talks with other clubs after July 20th, casting doubt on his future at Milan. The 20-year-old Brazilian is a long-term target of former boss Carlo Ancelotti and has been linked with a £38m move to the Bridge this summer. Speaking at a charity event in South Africa the forward said: ‘Now it is early to say if I stay at Milan. These things I want to talk only after July 20th. For my team I’m not even following the market. I came to South Africa for this charity project of Nike and cheer for Brazil playing my vuvuzela.’
Ballack talks of exit.
Michael Ballack claims Roman Abramovich was behind the clubs decision to release the midfielder this summer. The German midfielder who was denied a place at this summer World Cup through injury was unable to agree the two-year contract he was looking for at the Bridge. And speaking to the Guardian today Ballack said: ‘Chelsea was always my first choice as I had four great years at the club and enjoyed every minute, but it was not to be. It’s still my first choice, even now, but it was not up to me. The decision was down to Roman.’
French forward Nicholas Anelka has agreed a new two year contract at the Bridge, with a reported £90 000 per week, according to the Daily Mirror. The 31-year-old forward had just one year remaining on his current deal and now looks set to end his career at the Bridge, Anelka’s agent Doug Pinisi said: ‘Nicolas is happy at Chelsea and of course he wants to stay at Chelsea.’
