Honduras Camp Focus – Lacklustre Catrachos hanging by a thread

Some eight million Hondurans back at home roused themselves at 5:30am on Wednesday as the country prepared to go football crazy for Honduras’ second-ever World Cup campaign. Unfortunately however, Los Catrachos did not give their fans much to cheer in their opening Group H game against Chile. South America outclassed Central America, as Honduras had no answer to Chile’s exciting attacking flair and were ultimately fortunate to only lose by one goal.

Coach Reinaldo Rueda deviated from his usual 4-4-2, instead going with a cautious 4-5-1, perhaps wary of Chile’s much-feted 3-1-3-3 game. Rueda’s hand had been forced to some extent by yet another injury to a star performer, as mercurial attacking midfielder Julio C
