Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Liverpool. Today:

Benitez set for Anfield exit.

Rafael Benitez has been offered around £3m to leave the club immediately, according to all the national newspapers. The Spaniard who brought the European Cup to Anfield looks set to leave following an inconsistent six-year spell. The club has reportedly been in turmoil for the last couple of years with the current owners plunging the club into further debt. However, having finished in a disappointing seventh position last campaign, Benitez’s future was always in doubt. It is thought that the Spaniard will now manage Italian treble-winners Inter.

Calls for Dalglish as ‘Pool manager.

Liverpool legend David Fairclough believes that Kop idol Kenny Dalglish would be the ideal replacement for the outgoing Rafael Benitez – albeit on a short-term basis. Dalglish, who led the Reds to three league titles between 1985-1991, is currently working with the clubs academy and would provide some sort of stability at Anfield as potential big-name candidates try to digest the financial situation at the club. Speaking to Sky Sports News, Fairclough claimed that promoting Dalglish to the top job would keep the fans happy.

Liverpool stars consider future.

With Benitez on the brink of leaving Anfield, Liverpool’s prized assets are also considering their future at Anfield according to the Telegraph. It is thought that they would make any such decision regardless of Benitez’s position, however the departure of the manager further adds to the turmoil at the club. Gerrard is far from happy with the financial situation at Anfield and no clear reassurances have been given over transfer funds for either Benitez or his successor. With a lack of information and planning for the future, many players are considering moving to better-run clubs.
