Liverpool news – Hodgson swoop for Aurelio, Gerrard to make Madrid switch, Opare interests Benitez

Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Liverpool. Today:

Fabio Aurelio Fulham bound.

According to the Daily Mail Roy Hodgson has handed Brazilian left-back Fabio Aurelio a Premier League lifeline. The Europa League finalists are interested in signing Aurelio on a free transfer after he rejected a new pay-as-you-play contract at Anfield. Although his Liverpool career had been plagued by injury, Aurelio is thought to be ready to stay in England and his wish could be fulfilled with this offer from Fulham – although there are thought to be other offers from Greek clubs on the table for the free-kick expert.

Mourinho interested in Gerrard.

Talismanic Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is Jose Mourinho’s number one transfer target as he sets out to mould his Real Madrid side into a hard-working, successful team unit. Gerrard, who has caught Mourinho’s eye on several occasions in the past, is thought to be unhappy at the way life is going on Merseyside with Liverpool’s financial situation looking increasingly bleak. The midfielder, who almost joined Mourinho’s Chelsea in 2005, could see this as a perfect opportunity to try and win some silverware as well as play for one of the greatest clubs in world football.

Liverpool look into Daniel Opare.

Real Madrid youngster Daniel Opare is the interest of several top European clubs, including Lyon, Wolfsburg and Liverpool according to Sky Sports. The versatile player, who is capable of starting anywhere in midfield or at the full-back position, looks set to leave Madrid on-loan in order to prove his fitness and show his talent to Jose Mourinho. Rafael Benitez is thought to be interested in one of Africa’s brightest talents, as he looks for back-up options for the full-back spots.
