Manchester City are thought to very close to prising Yaya Toure away from Barcelona, according to the Guardian. The Ivorian defensive-midfielder has been on City’s radar for a number of months now, but this could be the summer that he is finally set to join his brother Kolo at Eastlands.
Several clubs including Chelsea and Arsenal were chasing Toure, who has not been playing regularly for Barcelona, however it is City’s greater financial power that seems to have won the day. The Manchester club are thought to meet Barcelona’s £25m valuation for the player, a fee that others were unwilling to pay. Toure would join a midfield with the likes of Nigel De Jong, Patrick Vieira, Gareth Barry and Vincent Kompany for the position.
