Yet, when the heavens opened during the first-half, it looked as though the Iberians were set for another frustrating day. Instead, Portugal crucially boosted their goal difference and with it their probability of escaping the ‘Group of Death’ in an emphatic 7-0 demolition of DPR Korea. The result leaves them three points clear of qualification rivals Ivory Coast with a game to play and the handsome victory gives them a practically insurmountable goal difference ahead of the final round of fixtures.
