Forlan keen on Spurs move.

Diego Forlan has told The Mirror he would be happy to play in the Premier League again so long as the price is right: ‘If there’s an offer and it’s good for my club and it’s also good for myself, I’d be really happy to go back to England.’ Tottenham lead the entourage of interested clubs after the 31-year-old striker failed to have a lasting affect for Manchester United and was sold in 2004. Forlan begins his World Cup with Uruguay tonight against France in Group A.

Tottenham confirm Fiorentina game.

Tottenham Hotspur will play Fiorentina at White Hart Lane on 7 August in preparation for the Champions League this coming season. Spurs will have to qualify for the group stages of the competition through a two-legged play-off due to begin on either the 17 or 18 August. The Italian giants will be ideal opposition for the North London club, after reaching last season’s Champions League second round.

Gomes in Redknapp dig.

Spurs shot-stopper Heurelho Gomes has spoken of how Harry Redknapp had no confidence in him when he took over as manager. On his arrival, Redknapp bought Carlo Cudicini from Chelsea to compete for the number one jersey, but the Brazilian international has since impressed and secured the place his own. He told The Times: ‘When you don’t have the confidence of the people closest to you, your performance is affected.’
