Tottenham news – Joe Cole deal looks increasingly unlikely, Bale not for sale, Spurs duo miss on final 23

Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Tottenham. Today:

Redknapp all but accepts Joe Cole defeat

Harry Redknapp believes Joe Cole will not move to Tottenham when his contract expires this summer. He told BBC Radio Five Live: “It looks to me someone’s going to make a great free transfer, if he doesn’t stay at Chelsea. I don’t think it’s going to be Tottenham.” Cole, who was coached by Redknapp while he was at West Ham, has been linked to a whole host of big names including Manchester United and Arsenal, but his reported weekly £100 000 wage demand has deterred many clubs.

No sale of Bale

AC Milan are reportedly interested in Gareth Bale according to Italian daily La Gazzetta dello Sport. Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has honed in on the Welsh wing-back as a target this summer but Tottenham have said he is not for sale at any price as they prepare for the Champions League next season. Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Ajax are also said to be interested in the services of the 20-year-old, after an impressive end to the 2009/10 campaign which helped Spurs to fourth in the Premier League.

Dawson and Huddlestone suffer World Cup heartbreak

Spurs duo Michael Dawson and Tom Huddlestone were among the seven names to be left off England’s final list of 23 announced yesterday. Theo Walcott, Adam Johnson, Leighton Baines, Scott Parker and Darren Bent were the other unfortunate five to be left from Fabio Capello’s World Cup squad. But Tottenham has its fair share of representatives this summer as Ledley King, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe and Aaron Lennon all made the cut.
