Tottenham news – Spurs to cash-in on Bentley and Jenas, Palacios World Cup not over, King will risk all for England

Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Tottenham. Today:

Spurs to cash-in on Bentley and Jenas.

Aston Villa are preparing a £15 million double-bid for Tottenham duo David Bentley and Jemaine Jenas according to the Daily Star. Spurs are predicted to sell several players this summer to make way for Harry Redknapp’s summer signings in preparation for the Champions League next season. Without regular appearances in the starting XI last campaign, both Bentley and Jenas could be leaving White Hart Lane. Stoke City are also reportedly interested in Jenas and are weighing up a £7 million bid for the midfielder.

Palacios World Cup not over.

The injury to Wilson Palacios is not as bad as first believed and the player could feature in the World Cup for Honduras after all. The Tottenham midfielder was stretchered off the field in his country’s warm-up match against Romania and first reports suggested he would not be fit to play. The injury is thought to be a pulled muscle in his left leg and should have recovered in time for him to star in Honduras’s opening match of the tournament against Chile. He told Honduran television on Sunday: “Thank God, everything is OK.”

King will risk all for England.

Ledley King is willing to risk everything to play for England in South Africa according to The Mirror. The Tottenham defender’s ongoing knee problem means he can only train twice a week with the rest of the team, but has become the most likely candidate to partner John Terry after Rio Ferdinand was ruled out through injury. He told The Mirror: “I’ve had scans going back over the last two or three years and it’s not really got any worse. But even if it does impact on me in the future, it will have been worth it.”
