Taraabt could make Spurs exit.
Tottenham midfielder Adel Taarabt has confessed his future at White Hart Lane is not guaranteed after reports Villareal could be interested. The 21-year-old has been at the North London club since 2007 but has failed to cement himself in the first team squad. Taarabt went on loan to Queens Park Rangers last season and admitted to the press he enjoyed his time at Loftus Road. ‘My last season with QPR was positive and increased my level as a footballer.’
Portsmouth in for double Spurs loan move.
Portsmouth hope to secure the services of Tottenham youngsters Danny Rose and Kyle Walker on season-long loans. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp still has a close bond with his former club and last season loaned them Jamie O’Hara. Rose, 19, and Walker, 20, would become the seventh and eighth players to leave White Hart Lane on loan since January. Rose played only 45 minutes of Premier League football for Spurs last season but netted a 30-yard volley in their 2-1 win over rivals Arsenal.
Defoe set for England start.
Tottenham’s Jemain Defoe is among other names to be thrown into the England melting pot in preparation for Friday’s match against Algeria. Fabio Capello has admitted he may make a few changes to the XI he started with against the USA on Saturday: ‘I have to decide about two positions. The goalkeeper and the next forward. Heskey or Defoe.’ The England boss confirmed that Gareth Barry has fully recovered and will be starting against the Algerians.
