Arsenal news – Arsenal in for Felipe Melo, Gunners in for Man City winger, Fabregas could stay

Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Arsenal. Today:

Gunners in for Man City winger.

Arsenal now face competition from Tottenham and Liverpool, as they try to sign England winger Shaun Wright-Phillips. According to the Daily Mail the Gunners were favourites to land the England international for a reported £6m. Although wage demands and competition for places could prove a problem, a move to Arsenal would favour the Manchester City winger due to his father’s legendary status at the club.

Arsenal in for Felipe Melo.

Felipe Melo could be heading to the Emirates after Juventus admitted they are willing to let him go. According to Italian sports daily Gazzetto dello Sport, the Brazilian, who had a poor World Cup and was blamed by some for their exit, is said to welcome a move to the Gunners. Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta said, “Melo’s situation is the same as other players at the club. Hence, we are on guard to evaluate all eventual offers.” The defensive midfielder has been a long term admirer of Arsene Wenger and was reported to choose Juventus over Arsenal last season.

Fabregas could stay.

Barcelona’s reported debt could mean that Cesc Fabregas will be staying at Arsenal this summer. Numerous reports have suggested the Spanish club are unable to pay the players wages this month. After months of speculation and reported negotiations, the Spaniard looks set to remain at the North London for another season at least.
