Wenger in for Halliche.

Arsene Wenger looks set to bring in another defender in the name of Rafik Halliche. The 23-year-old Algerian, who plays for Benfica, has been an interest of a number of clubs after his displays in the World Cup. According to The Sun, Arsene Wenger is looking at a number of defensive options and £4m should be enough to secure Halliche’s signature.

Gunners turn to Germany.

Arsene Wenger’s interest has turned to Germany in his search for new players according to footylatest.com. An impressive outing in the World Cup has made the French boss aware of the potential of their youngsters in recent past, with Mesut Ozil, Serdar Tasci and Per Mertesacker all catching the French boss’ eyes in the last month.

Bendtner injury ok.

Arsene Wenger has played down the injury to Nicolas Bendtner, after fears of his fitness for the new season. The Danish striker was troubled by a groin problem throughout the World Cup, with his participation making the injury worse. The Frenchman told the official Arsenal website, “We have an assessment with him on Thursday, It is a groin problem and we see where we go from there. We need to check it to see if we have to do something. But no, it is not a big problem.”
