Abramovic flies off to seal Torres deal.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has travelled to South Africa in a bid to lure Liverpool ace Fernando Torres to The Bridge, according to the Daily Telegraph. Reports yesterday suggested Torres was set to leave Anfield with Chelsea or Manchester City his preferred destination. And now it appears the Chelsea owner is prepared to offer a British record £50m to capture the Spanish forward. The Blue’s are said to be favorites to land Torres as he is keen to play Champions League football next season.
Blues want Khedira.
The Sun claims Chelsea have joined the race to sign German midfielder Sami Khedira, who has one year left on his contract at Stuttgart. The German international has impressed at this summer’s World Cup and could leave for free next summer. Khedira coach at Stuttgard, Christian Cross told The Sun: “It would be very painful if Sami left on a free. If he has two more great World Cup games, all the big clubs will come for him.”
Honda race on.
Chelsea are said to be among a number of clubs considering a bid for Japan’s World Cup star, Keisuke Honda. The Japan international who plays for CSKA Moscow is said to also be attracting interest from Milan, Seville, Valancia and Manchester City and has set his sights on a move to a major club. The 24-year-old scored two goals as Japan made it to the last 16 in South Africa. Reports in Russia claims he will cost around 20m Euros and CSKA have already rejected an offer of 10m Euros from Milan.
