Liverpool news – Cisse wants Reds return, Ngog to reject West Brom move, Palermo want Lucas

Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Liverpool. Today:

Cisse wants Reds return.

Frenchman Djibril Cisse would like a move back to Liverpool. The striker was in prolific form last season, netting 23 goals for Panathanikos, which led to him being called up to the World Cup squad. Cisse enjoyed a miserable time at Anfield and was sold by Benitez, however he would be interested in rejoining the Reds under the management of Roy Hodgson according to the Daily Mail. Cisse would be a much-needed addition on Merseyside as Liverpool are currently short on strikers and Fernando Torres’ future hangs in the balance.

Ngog to reject West Brom move.

David Ngog will reject any loan move to West Brom according to Sky Sports News. The Frenchman was almost an ever present at Anfield last season, thanks to the continuous injury of Fernando Torres. It is thought that Ngog wants to fight for his place at Liverpool, where he was in fact second in the pecking order at Anfield last season – an incredible position for a 20 year-old. Roy Hodgson is happy for Ngog to stay as the squad is need of strikers ahead of the new season.

Palermo want Lucas.

Italian side Palermo have made a bid of considerably less than £5m for Lucas according to ESPN. The Brazilian defensive midfielder was one of Rafael Benitez’s favourite players and was used in almost every game last season, however Palermo are testing the resolve of the Reds with a very small bid. Roy Hodgson is currently assessing the squad and will decide whether the bid is acceptable as he attempts to reinvest all raised funds on new players. However, with the future of Mascherano in doubt, this could be another deal which may not happen.
